I feel the same way. Just wait a while. There will be sales and It'll go down in price in time. Valve is good about this, unlike say Nintendo. I'll be getting it then myself.

Just because you and I don't agree with him is no reason to be rude.

Agreed. Orange Box was and is the best value in gaming. At the same time, Portal 1 (I dont mean this in a bad way at all) was not a fully realized stand alone title(though it was genius...and one of my fav games). Portal has really raised the bar in regards to content, co-op...etc. And 45$ on Steam aint bad:)

    On your second note, +1
I get so tired of snobbery against dissenting opinions on this forum. Stay well friend!

    Does this display subtitles?

Yes it's a small screen, but subtitles would benefit many people not just deaf people.

More like they merged the viewer to also act as your media bin. We haven't been shown enough effects yet to really see what role the new viewer will play in adjusting/managing that aspect of it. It looks like most of the "basic Motion" controls are being handled in the Canvas with simple location sensitive mouse controls, for better or worse.Im glad the viewer is gone. Im hoping for a viewer/canvas split into two separate displays option :)

+1 for Liquid Metal. I was butt-hurt when I saw this and this:

I love this Mockup! Hopefully we can get something like this with the 2012 Macbook pros.

& I agree on liquid metal rather than carbon fiber.

    Quote:
...Two 10-Gbps data channels per port...

I saw that - but TBolt has always had two 10-Gbps channels per port.

I'm looking for a statement that says that each port is independent - so that you get 4 channels (two ports with two channels each) with an aggregate throughput of 40 Gbps (each direction).

That's not possible with a PCIe x4 link to the controller as is shown in the Intel diagram. Since the teardown shows only one TBolt controller - either the Intel diagram is incomplete (it doesn't show the possibility of a PCIe x8 connection), or the two Imac TBolt ports share the bandwidth of a PCIe x4 connection and cannot simultaneously run all channels at the rated bandwidth.

This entire Thunderbolt hypefest gives the term "vaporware" a whole new definition.

That speaks to the point these researchers are making. They used the Nike+iPod Sport Kit as their example, but their message is that all sorts of gadgets with wireless communications capabilities can have these types of problems, especially if thought isn't give to the issue during design.

Doesn't matter, if you are going to go around planting sensors and planting a transmitter in someone's backpack, there are alot easier and possibly even cheaper ways. No one in their right mind would do this other than to prove its possible.

Last i heard someone could track me when I walk down the street too

Typical OS X user experience is this: I mount a network share. I work through the day but if there's any significant network connectivity issue, my mount point goes away and OS X alerts me that the network share is no longer available and I have to reconnect. IOW, OS X suddenly turns helpless on me and my mounted share just disappears because it's too dumb to know what else to do.

Wow, I've never heard of this issue - and I haven't noticed it on my setup.

I have a NAS that, upon booting my iMac, gives me a "can't connect" error, because it's trying to mount that volume before network connectivity is established. I have to click the share's icon to get it to mount - but then it stays mounted. *shrug*

The iPad destruction is heart breaking to see, especially for all those out there who can't afford one and would have treaured the copy they destroyed. But we have to remember, this is good publicity for the iPad becuase it elevates its status in the cultural consciousness (not because it stil works after being bent in half, but that doesn't hurt).

And just think, how many iPads have been accidentally destroyed or damaged since they went on sale this past Saturday! It's just a thing, and more are made everyday :).

Gordon Moore would probably beg to differ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moore's_law). By the time Merom is out the current Yonah processors should become cheap enough to allow a $100-$200 price drop for a Mac mini.

It would work quite well as a secondary Mac in a multi-Mac family too...

    B

Yes that is true but by then, that technology is out dated. The reason new technology is expensive is because its...well new

If people want a truly stunning example of FUD, this is it. Being able to track someone remotely, when they are less than 20 metres away is only usefull as a way to scare people into buying your iPod / Nike Beacon Jamming Kit for only $19.95.

About 18 months ago, I switched to Mac mainly because of visits to the retail Apple store as well as the online one. I guess I was just persuaded. I was upset with Windows because of everything about it (it wouldn't let me update at all, I get an error message every 5 minutes, takes 5 minutes to start up and 30 seconds to open an application, some apps stop working). After I did switch I felt ecstatic. Truthfully, they just work.
I'm not a developer or an advanced Mac user, but there are a few smudges in Mac OS X that needed to be cleaned. Just a few minor details.

Grid stacks need smaller icons or at least adjustable. When fanning out they seem a little choppy (slow frame rate).
With the smaller and smaller screens like the 11 inch mba, the right side of the menu bar should be changed to allow more icons to be visible without eliminating them. idk how though.
I never use dashboard. I think because it's just not easy to use. For example, the calculator on dashboard has way less features then the calculator app. The translator widget doesn't work the same as google translate. Dictionary widget isn't as good as dictionary app. The clock is useless. So change the dashboard some how.
I've heard complaints about spotlight. I guess that could use a refresh.
I've had troubles with subscripts and superscripts. Is it possible to get a simple keyboard shortcut to get any character as a sub/superscript when typing into anything. I understand there is this for iWork but I want this available in any app.
I want to be able to work easily between Windows and Mac file systems easily, read, write and all that, between wireless networks anyway.

I'm watching these, but the audio is annoying. Some of the most important stuff is obliterated by the audience. Guess it's not so important: it's going to be obvious when the software is released.

I don't remember any new hardware in November, let alone December. (Please speak up and correct me, what was the most recent Apple hardware both announced and released Nov.1 - Dec. 31)

Since no one answered, I decided to look it up at

    http://www.apple-history.com/

In Apple's entire history, they have "Introduced" 4 pieces of hardware in November:

    November 1997
Newton Message Pad 2100 (Terminated by Steve Jobs 3 months later!)
    Power Macintosh G3
    PowerBook G3

    November 2002
    PowerBook G4 (1 GHz/867 MHz)

As far as I can tell, nothing released in December. Ever.

If we see an iPod video after Dec. 1, no way did Apple plan it that way. Could it be that the reports from thinksecret reflect the uncertainty within Apple itself?

One more time: yes, I think the guy should have stopped, but I think she bears as much blame as she does. He tried to diffuse a hostile situation by leaving; her actions indicated that she insisted it continue. You have no idea what transpired.

Inspired by the latest rumour on the iPhone being marketed to businesses (http://www.macrumors.com/2007/04/23/atandt-to-target-iphone-to-business-customers/), I have the theory that iLife will be released with the iPhone and will display some great integration. That way it can also continue to be called iLife '07.. barely.

Has anyone else noticed its resemblance to the Remote/FM Radio for the 5G iPod...

Yes. I was in the airport and saw a guy walk by and I was about to stop him and yell "How the hell did you get the new iPod Shuffle already?!?!" but then I noticed the extra wire comming out of the bottom of it and going into his bag. Oh yeah, it's a remote. :o
